Snow Plowing Policy

Council wishes to make ratepayers aware of the safety issues and consequences of pushing snow from a driveway on to the municipal road or shoulder. Piles of snow left on or near the road can freeze into a solid mass creating a hazardous situation for vehicles and snowplows.  It also could increase the chance of drifting on to the roadway.

This hazard on a municipal road exposes those that use the road (residents, equipment operators etc.) to the risk of serious bodily injury and poses the risk of liability for the resulting damages to the party who pushed the snow on the road. Anyone who pushes snow on to a municipal road can also be liable for the costs for the R.M to remedy the damage done and can be fined under The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997.

Agreement for Snow Removal 2019-2020

Starting in the fall 2019, the RM will require a Custom Release Form to be completed if you will be calling the office to request your laneway/yard to be plowed. If you call for a plow, this form must be filled out prior to the RM plowing your laneway/yard. Please ensure you complete the correct form early in the season to avoid delays in plowing your yard after a large snowfall. Forms are available below or can be picked up at the RM office. The Custom Release Form is valild for the current winter season only and plowing will only be done when requested.

Please Note: this is not the same form as the one required to be on othe regular customer snowplow list (whereby your laneway is plowed regularly depending on snow fall).
