Fire Ban - Effective April 8th, 2024

The RM of Mervin No. 499 has declared a fire ban effective April 8th, 2024 municipality wide. There shall be no open fires due to the very dry conditions with low humidity. The ban continues until such time that conditions improve and the R.M. Council determines the ban can be lifted. Our website is updated whenever a ban is put in effect or lifted.

The fire ban includes fireworks, burning barrels, recreational fires and propane fire pits with an open flame higher than 2 inches. In addition to this, no person shall use ATV's recreationally while the fire ban is in effect.

Permitted Uses Include:
- Barbeques (propane, gas, and briquette)
- Tabletop propane heaters and propane heaters with a maximum flame height of 2 inches.
- Patio Heaters
- Completed enclosed wood fueled fire pits

When fires burn out of control in the RM, extra demand is placed on staff and volunteer firefights, creating large costs. The municipality will pursue recovery from individuals who light fires during the ban.

Should you have any questions regarding the fire ban, please contact the office.
