Environmental and Hazard Controls

Date:
Environmental and Hazard Controls

Some lands require additional review because of drainage, groundwater, wetlands, wildfire, flooding, highway access, pipelines or heritage potential. The proposed Zoning Bylaw strengthens the RM’s ability to request qualified assessments and apply development standards where risks or sensitive features are present. These requirements would be based on the site and the proposal—not automatically imposed on every application. The objective is safer development and better information before land is altered or buildings are placed.
