Protecting Agriculture While Supporting Diversification

Date:
Protecting Agriculture While Supporting Diversification

Agriculture remains a central land use in the RM. The proposed OCP would protect productive agricultural land, limit unnecessary fragmentation and reduce conflicts between farms and non-farm development. At the same time, it supports compatible diversification, value-added agriculture and farm-based businesses. The challenge is allowing rural enterprise to grow without undermining agricultural operations or creating servicing and traffic impacts. Council welcomes feedback from producers, rural businesses and neighbouring landowners.
