Cenovus Open House

Cenovus will be constructing a new stand-alone facility at its Spruce Lake steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) oil operations to support the introduction of a technology called the diluent solvent-aided process (DilSAP). The diluent being used is a lighter hydrocarbon, or condensate, and will be injected with steam into the reservoir to improve crude oil recovery. This first commercial use of the technology by the company will improve steam effectiveness and lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity per barrel, while increasing production by about 10,000 barrels per day (bbls/d). Spruce Lake produces approximately 28,000 bbls/d and employs 25 full-time staff.
Open House details
The company will be holding an open house with residents and other community stakeholders so they can learn more about the Spruce Lake DilSAP project and its long-term benefits, ask questions and speak directly with Cenovus subject matter experts.
